The New York Department of Consumer Affairs accused Whole Foods Market on Wednesday of overstating the weight of some prepackaged products sold in the company’s stores in the city. Article from NY Times
This is almost a year after they settled with the state of California for overcharging consumers there.
The Investigative Unit of NBC News Bay Area obtained USDA inspection reports for Iowa Rabbit, the farm that supplies Whole Foods Market with its rabbit meat. An analysis of the reports and a review of what are believed to be internal sales numbers show that consumer demand and animal welfare may both be much lower than what Whole Foods has suggested.
